Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration

Square Enix has finally announced Rise of the Tomb Raider for PlayStation 4, coming on October 11, 2016. The full title of the release is Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, honoring the launch of the first game on October 25, 1996 and it’ll be bringing PlayStation VR support with it.

The PS4 release comes alongside an all-new story DLC called Blood Ties and a zombie survival mode called Lara’s Nightmare. Blood Ties features Lara returning to Croft Manor to find proof that she is the rightful heir against claims made by her uncle. Surprisingly enough, Blood Ties also has PlayStation VR support, letting players explore Croft Manor in first-person. Lara’s Nightmare seems to be a replayable zombie-killing mode for the game, not unlike the previous Cold Darkness Awakened DLC.

Crystal Dynamics has added co-op play to Endurance mode, allowing two-players to raid tombs and caves, survive, and escape the harsh environment. Survival means hunting for food and making sure you stay warm; now you have a friend to help you do it. There’s a new ‘Extreme Survivor’ difficulty setting to challenge veteran players.

Check out the Screenshots:

“The Manor also offered a great opportunity for us to investigate the possibilities with cutting edge VR technology. So for the first time in franchise history, you’ll be able to play “Blood Ties” in first-person through Lara’s eyes!

Next, we’re adding a new online co-op expansion to Endurance mode. You and a friend can team up to raid tombs and battle for the longest survival run to stay at the top of the leaderboards.”
