Rockstar Games Reportedly Acquiring Ruffian Games

According to reports from Video Games Chronicle, Rockstar Games has acquired Crackdown 2’s developer Ruffian Games, first reports came by the news outlet The Gamer but VGC verified the information and affirms that Rockstar Games has renamed the studio as Rockstar Dundee.

Ruffian Games has been credited for being part of the development team of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Crackdown 2. As spotted in a Company House Listing, Take-Two, parent company of Rockstar Games has acquired more than 75 percent of the now called Rockstar Dundee.

In 2019, Ruffian Games announced the collaboration with Rockstar Games on future projects, this suggested a rumored Red Dead Redemption Remaster, following the successful Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

New job listings advertised by Ruffian Games confirms that the studio is looking for developers with “generalized experience in multiplayer action games developed for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and future platforms.”

Is uncertain in Ruffian Games, now called Rockstar Dundee will incorporate to the development of the unannounced Grand Theft Auto VI. In recent months, several reports of the alleged Grand Theft Auto VI project affirms that the game will launch in late 2020 or early 2021.

Back in April 2020, Jason Schreier confirmed the development of Grand Theft Auto VI through information leaked from Rockstar Games’ insiders. According to what Schreier was told,  Rockstar opted for a different approach in the next installment of GTA, the game will release on a much smaller scale compared to GTA V, the game would later be expanded through DLC.

In early 2020, an elaborated rumor was uploaded on Reddit. The alleged information suggests that the world map of the next installment will be huge, Rockstar would include three states and two major cities, Carcer City (Based on Boston and the East Coast of USA) and Vice City (Miami, Florida). An abundance of towns, waterfronts, and suburbs are expected to be present.
