Rocksteady: No Announcement At The Game Awards, New IP Is Not Superman

We recently reported some rumors surrounding Rocksteady next game, the rumor says that an announcement for a Superman game at The Game Awards was in order.

All this rumors has been dismissed as Rocksteady Studios co-founder Sefton Hill has confirmed on his personal Twitter account that they won’t make an announcement at The Game Awards. According to him their next game is currently at development and he confirms that it won’t be a Superman game.

Looking forward to #TheGameAwards this year! We’re still hard at work in our development bunker so don’t expect an announcement from @Rocksteadygames. When it’s ready to show, you’ll be the first to know. Spoiler: it’s not Superman ?

Let’s go back a bit and simply list the rumors that have been spread out since early this year. We had rumors of a Justice League game, Batman Arkham DC team-up and then Superman again recently. All of this back and forth between the rumors have led to a confusing expectation for their next project, so it is nice to have some clarification that it is not going to be Superman.

Earlier, we had a rumor from a veteran journalist that teased that they will announce their project in Q1 2019. However, some fans were hoping to hear from them at The Game Awards, so this is not going to happen now judging from the official comment made by the game director and co-founder of Rocksteady Studios.

Back in June Rocksteady confirmed the development of a new game:

Hi all! I wanted to share a quick message from me and the Rocksteady team…

We know some of you were disappointed that we were not at E3 this year. The whole team has been reading your comments and all of us here at Rocksteady really appreciate your passion for our next project.

Knowing how much it means to you keeps us inspired and energized to deliver a game that you will be proud of. We’ll share it with you as soon as it’s ready.
