During the Nintendo Direct of November 1st, 2018 Nintendo announced the full roster of characters coming to Super Smash Bros. Utimate, with Ken, Piranha Plant and Incineroar announced, Sakurai confirmed during the direct that this is the final roster of characters that would be featured at the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, making this leak a fake, as always, we always encourage our readers to to take leaks and rumors with a grain of salt, no matter how credible they seem to be.
It was released today on the internet a series of photos seemingly shared on Snapchat, of a Nintendo Switch banner for the upcoming popular fighting game, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, that leaked the full roster of characters that will appear in the game. These characters include Banjo-Kazooie, Shadow the Hedgehog, and more characters that are hard to believe will be in the final roster.
This leak was allegedly posted by an employee for a manufacturing company that works with Bandai Namco, and since the company is co-developing Super Smash Bros Ultimate alongside Sora Ltd., many internet users believe that this leak is real.
The leaked image shows a banner of the final character roster art of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, that the employee promptly took a photo of it and shared in Snapchat.
In the final art we can see very poorly, unannounced newcomers like Banjo-Kazooie, Isaac from Golden Sun, Mac Rider, Geno from Super Mario RPG, and Chorus Kids from Rhythm Heaven. We can also see new Echo fighters like Ken from Street Fighter and Shadow the Hedgehog.
If this leak turns to be true, with these 7 new characters it would make a total of 77 playable characters, and if these characters come with their own stages, that would make a total of 108 stages.
Here’s the leaked images posted on Snapchat that features the promotional banner of the complete Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, and the comparison of the previously officially released art with the one in the leak:
Also, an important piece of evidence that various internet users are pointing out is the appearance of The Grinch in the image, since Universal Studios, which is distributing the upcoming The Grinch film, will have its cinema run in France that begins on November 28th, and it is plausible that the promotional art for the movie is handled in the same batch of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate promotional art.
GameRevolution said on an article in their website:
“If these are fakes, then the presence of The Grinch render suggests that the leaker has gone to great lengths to make them look official. The individual would have not only created the Smash Bros Ultimate artwork, but would have also created renders for The Grinch in order to make it appear official. Many Smash Bros fans are therefore certain that this is the real deal.”
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be releasing on December 7th, so it wont be long before Nintendo officially announces the full roster of Super smash Bros. Ultimate, but until then, take this leak with a grain of salt.
UPDATE: It appears that the leaker in question has been confirmed to be working for a company who’s providing the promotional material for Namco Bandai. In a post that appeared on Resetera, somebody who claims to have confirmed the leaker’s identity, posted an image of a wristband that belongs to the leaker, which was used as a confirmation that the leak came from an insider working on promotional material for both Super Smash Bros Ultimate and The Grinch movie.
Below is an image of the banner:
While this revelation adds further credibility to the leaks, still we recommend to take these news with a huge grain of salt until an official announcement from Nintendo is made, we suspect that the Banjo reveal may occur at the Microsoft X018 Conference that will be held on November 10th in Mexico City, Expect full coverage of this event here at Gaming Instincts.
