After the most recent showing of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, many fans are eager to learn more about the upcoming title. Square Enix has promised to show more on the game during their E3 panel next week, but there seems to be a new rumor floating about that may excite the fan base even more.
The rumor started from reliable source Jason Shreier of Kotaku and he’s claimed that we could expect plenty of highly-anticipated AAA titles release within the first half of 2020, including the Final Fantasy VII Remake. Among other titles included in this release window are Sony exclusives Ghost of Tsushima and Last of Us Part II, one or two unannounced Ubisoft AAA titles, the rumored George R.R. Martin FromSoftware mystery title and Cyberpunk 2077.
Other than the fact the rumor is coming from a reputable source, Last of Us Part II has finished cinematic shooting and should be well underway to completion, Ghost of Tsushima received a PEGI rating which means it may release within the next year, both Cyberpunk 2077 and the unannounced R.R. Martin/FromSoft title is expected to be at E3 along with Ubisoft unveiling one or two surprises during their E3 panel. All of these could line up to make 2020 one incredibly exciting (albeit busy) year.
On top of the new that we could see the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake by this time next year, it’s also been spotted on GameStop Ireland’s webpage that the game (which is currently expect to be a PS4 exclusive) is listed for the Xbox One as well. It might be more surprising if the game released as a PlayStation exclusive, especially considering other recent Final Fantasy titles – Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age – are both available for the Xbox One alongside other platforms.
Take these predictions with a grain of salt as nothing has been locked in. Nevertheless, it’s still exciting to know that we may be closer than anticipated to getting our hands on, not only the Remade RPG classic – but several others, as well.
