Update:
After the official reveal of new details for Google’s game streaming service Stadia, it seems the recent leak earlier today was spot on. While a few bits of info need ironing out due to regional differences, Stadia is planned to indeed launch in 14 different countries this coming November.
Check out a quick recap of the announcements below:
The price point for the States will be $10 per month for the base subscription while a bundle is currently available now for pre-order for one cost of $130. The bundle titled “Founder’s Edition” will include a limited edition Stadia controller, a Chromecast Ultra to plug into your TV, a three month subscription and “dibs on the first Stadia user names”.
Google has also confirmed that Stadia will offer the base subscription for free starting in 2020. The Pro bundle for $10 a month will offer the service at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second and is looked at as the go-to subscription for the service.
We also got an exclusive reveal of previously teased Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios. You can read more on that reveal here.
Original Post:
It seems a big leak including plenty of details regarding Google’s upcoming game streaming service Stadia has surfaced via ResetEra. The post notes a french website Lapresse.ca which seems to have broken embargo on when to publish the content which includes tons of interesting details for Google Stadia.
Below are the bits of information broken down from the French article in English courtesy of ResetEra user LordKano:
- Launch in November in 14 countries (including Canada)
- You can preorder the “founder’s edition” of Stadia for 169$ today, which includes the gamepad, a Chromecast Ultra (which is 6cm in length), Destiny 2 and three months of subscription
- Stadia works through a subscription only at first. The Stadia Pro sub costs 11.99$ per month and will include streaming up to 4K/60fps. Note that only “older” games will be included in this sub, and more recent games will have to be bought separately.
- A separate sub will be available in 2020, and is completely free. It’ll only allow up to 1080p streaming, and won’t include any game like the Pro sub.
- 10mbps in download/1mbp in upload is the minimal requirement, with 35mbps required for 4K “optimal comfort”.
- You’ll need the Chromecast for Stadia to work at launch, but it’s planned to work through any Google device with Google Chrome in 2020.
- Games planned include Destiny 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, The Divison 2, DOOM, all three Tomb Raider games.
- Line-up will have 31 games at launch.
It should also be noted that reliable source Jason Schreier of Kotaku has confirmed these details to be true.
We’ll find out very soon whether or not these bits of details hold any water as Google is said to unveil various Stadia details later today.
