After a cryptic tweet from a relatively reputable source, which followed up a rumor late last year pulled from an interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki, details of the next From Software title have seemed to surface. The rumored title is said to include a full open world setting filled with a variety of different kingdoms, which may then be conquered in any order.
Within the interview from 4Gamer last December, Miyazaki confirmed that there were two other projects currently in development aside from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and their VR title Deracine. This new tweet from user Liam Robertson also provides fans with some sort of outline which is detailed in a YouTube video from the channel Spawn Wave.
According to the video, the new title will be published by Bandai Namco – publishers of the Souls series – and will feature the studio’s most ambitious and open world yet. Player’s are said to be given freedom on which kingdoms they wish to explore and conquer first, and upon defeating the ruler of each kingdom, the player is then rewarded with the leader’s special ability. There’s also speculation that the game could be revealed during this year’s E3 event.
There’s also talk of Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin said to be attached to the unannounced game as the writer and creator of the open world the player explores. This would undoubtedly add much more depth to the narrative and setting, especially in comparison to previously released From Software title.
As for now, this is all merely speculation and swirling rumors, so take everything you hear lightly until we receive official confirmation. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any more news leaked or detailed about this intriguing rumor. Stay tuned.
