Rumor: Nintendo Partnering With Microsoft For Future Cloud Gaming Tech

Late last week we received a bombshell of information that both Sony and Microsoft have agreed to work together for the cloud gaming future. Both companies will utilize each other’s strengths, such as Microsoft’s own Azure tech and Sony’s industry leading semiconductors and AI tech to help both console platforms grow and compete against gaming newcomers, Apple, Amazon and Google.

However, a recent rumor has also been floating around from Twitter user David Gibson claiming that Nintendo may be looking to dip into the partnership with Microsoft which could allow them to hop on board a broader cloud gaming platform.

While this is merely a rumor for now, Nintendo does already feature a small touch of cloud gaming but is only exclusive to the Japanese region. The Switch can stream both Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey but only for the Japan region. Teaming up with Microsoft to use their Azure tech would increase the Switch’s (and future consoles) ability to stream more games in more regions.

As always, take this rumor with a massive grain of salt and stay tuned for more updates on this circulating story.
