The games that we receive everyday from different developers all over the world, regardless of how successful they are, have a lot of good and bad stories behind that we might never find out, but you cannot deny the effort that developers have put into the games we are playing every day. Every piece of scene that we see in a blink of an eye, has absolutely take at least hours to be completed by the studio, but sometimes overriding in work have some dangerous consequences that may overshadow the game’s success, and now some new unofficial reports from a former developer in Nether Realm have leaked a terrifying scandal within the studio.
According to a Twitter account named Jiminy Snackmouth, who claims to be a former Nether Realms developer, most of the time the studio have had scheduled crunch times for workers with very cheap bonuses which the former employee describes as “a small percentage of salary”. He claims that during the time that the studio was developing Mortal Kombat X, a lot of workers would have to work extra hours as “a mandate”. While Jiminy Snackmouth talking about his own working times at the studio, he revealed that developers were working from 10 AM to midnight most of the days, specially from Jan 2011 to April in the same year. However, bosses used to leave the studio after dinner all the time.
The leak becomes more horrifying when the former employee mentioned death of one of his co-workers, Miguel, just behind his desk during crunch time. As Snackmouth claims, this had happened after his departure from the studio while Nether Realm was working on Injustice 2, though at first he tweeted that it was during the development of Mortal Kombat X. However, after a few minutes, the tweets that contained these words have been removed from the page, but you can check out our screenshot from them here:
Whether the claims above turned to be right or not, crunch hours within studios are hurting a lot of employees these days and unfortunately we have heard alike news about Rockstar during the development of Red Dead Redemption 2.
