Saints Row Reboot Gets Customization Outline

Volition has released some further details as to what players can expect in terms of customization options for their reboot of the Saints Row franchise. They have also explained why we have yet to see much of the classic purple color scheme the Third Street Saints were known for.

In an update post published on the Official Saints Row Website, the company took the time to answer the questions raised by fans since the game was announced. These questions included some about the aforementioned customization and color scheme, as well as what kinds of new characters the game will bring.

For the new characters, Volition again outlined the three main characters as well as the new boss, all of whom showcased during the first trailer. These characters include Neenah, a talented getaway driver, Kevin, a DJ and people pleaser, Eli, a Business entrepreneur, and of course the new boss who will be played by you.

Despite Voice Actor Bryce Charles appearing at Gamescom as “the voice of the boss” players will be able to choose from between eight voice actors when it comes to designing their character. These VA’s are divided between 4 males and 4 females. Volition has reaffirmed that they have  “built the biggest customization suite,” of any Saints Row game to date.

According to Volition, the game will also be bringing back layered clothing, adding more versatility to how you can dress your character. They stated they want to give players the freedom to create anything from “stone-cold killer or a fantastic looking freakshow.” Cars will also be getting a large number of customizations as well.

They also reiterated the reason for a lack of purple, which as they state is due to the game following the characters early in their crime careers. They also stated that the iconic scheme would return as the characters progress. The post states:

We begin by showing the Saints at the start of their criminal journey, over the course of the game they form the Saints and rise to the top of the criminal underworld, reaping rewards and recruits along the way. The further they go down that path, the more you’ll see the purple ‘uniform’ come into play, and the more visually adorned with purple and fleur de lys the Saints, their HQ, and their recruits become.

Saints Row

will arrive on February 25, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
