SNK has recently announced that Samurai Shodown will be releasing for Xbox Series X|S on March 16, 2021. The new version will feature three new playable characters, a smarter AI, and 120 fps support on Series X.
Also known as Samurai Spirits, SNK introduced the franchise in 1993, and ever since, it has been one of the biggest fighting games in Japan, with SNK developing multiples iterations over the past two decades.
The new version of the game takes players into the 18th-century, during Japan’s Sakoku Period, the story of the game is based on real-life figures in Japanese history, however, the narrative is presented in an approachable and cartoonish way. Players will be experiencing the events that follow the original game while also preceding those happening at Samurai Showdown V.
The three new fighters introduced are Wu-Ruixiang, Darli Dagger, and Yashamaru Kurama. Main characters from older games, like Hanzo Hattori, Haōmaru, Nakoruru, Earthquake, Tam Tam, Shiki, Genjuro Kibagami Jubei Yagyu, Ukyo Tachibana, and Kyoshiro Senryo, are also confirmed.
