The ‘Festival of Giving’ is now live in Rare’s Sea of Thieves, available for free to all Sea of Thieves players, including those who access the game through Xbox Game Pass.
To celebrate the update’s release, Rare released a special trailer on the official Sea of Thieves YouTube channel.
The ‘Festival of Giving’ implements Gift Seeker Voyages, where players search for shipments of gifts lost at sea in exchange for a “pretty penny.” Players need to speak to “Stitcher Jim in any tavern to get started and earn valuable Doubloons for each lost gift [they] deliver safely to the Masked Stranger at The Reaper’s Hideout.” Moreover, Rare has introduced the Calendar of Giving, “offering all players daily in-game incentives from December 13-24!”
The ‘Festival of Giving’ also brings with it the Maiden Voyage, “a new introductory adventure that’s a must-play for every pirate. For those new to the game or in need of a refresher, it’s an ideal first experience and a ‘safe’ place to hone [their] skills.” For veteran players, the Maiden Voyage provides an opportunity to discover a new hidden island “beyond the Devil’s Shroud, meet the Pirate Lord and unlock new Commendations and exclusive cosmetics.”
Furthermore, the Pirate Emporium also has new, time-limited weapons and pet outfits that are festive-themed. In addition, the Pirate Emporium is having its first sale. “Selected Ancient Coin bundles have been boosted by 10%, giving [fans] even more coin to treat [themselves] to a special Christmas gift.”
Players also have the opportunity to donate to charity by purchasing a unique SpecialEffect ship cosmetic.
The update adds more Ashen Tomes, three new Skeleton Lords at active Forts, and new cosmetics from Outpost shops and the Black Market. Gamers can find out more on the ‘Festival of Giving’ page or by reading through the official release notes.
