Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man who bullies us with his extraordinarily challenging games, delivered Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to us earlier this year. Aside from getting a heart-warming reception from media, the game has also succeeded in financial aspects. The new data from the mother company of FromSoftware reveals that the game has sold over 3.8 million units as of launch.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a brand new IP from the developers of Dark Souls series with a new combat system featuring different elements than the hardcore Souls-Born titles, though it is still challenging as hell. The game managed to sell 2 million copies only in 10 days.
Activision is the publisher behind Sekiro. The number of sales clearly assures us when Activision is behind a project, there is going to be a lot of money there, and this happened for FromSoftware’s latest third-person action game. It’s worth noting that Dark Souls 3 had sold 1.3 million units less than Sekiro at launch despite being a sequel for a well-known franchise.
Currently, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team are working on Elden Ring, a new action game that is promised to be even more challenging than Dark Souls series. The game is set in a huge world which is created in collaboration with George R.R. Martin, the man behind Game of Thrones.
