According to a statement from Xbox’s head of content and studios Matt Booty on a recent episode of The Fourth Curtain podcast, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will launch “later” in 2024, after the rerelease of both Ara: History Untold and Towerborne. Ara and Towerborne are Microsoft’s first party games that will reportedly launch in Q1 and Q2 of 2024. According to developer Ninja Theory the game is far ahead in development, and is playable from start to finish. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will launch for Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
A relevant snippet of the podcast via Pure Xbox:
“We’ve got a goal of a big game – you know, a new release, something significant – going out four times a year,” Booty said (). “So every three months we’ve got something new coming out. And I think with Starfield and then going into Forza Motorsport, and then as we head into next year we showed the game Ara: [History Untold] and the game Towerborne at Gamescom, we’ve got Hellblade 2 that comes later, it feels like we’re getting there.”
A short description of the upcoming game via the publisher:
The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.
Sink deep into the next chapter of Senua’s story, a crafted experience told through cinematic immersion, beautifully realised visuals and encapsulating sound.
