Shadow of the Beast Gameplay Mechanics Video

Heavy Spectrum Entertainment Founder Matt Birch showed off quite a bit of gameplay from the PS4-exclusive title, and talked a little about the new features in the game. Between the lighting, shadows, and dynamic camera, Shadow of the Beast is a visual feast, but it will feature more than just fantastic graphics.

According to Birch, the title will have a combo-based combat system, and players will be able to use weapons and throw enemies into each other. Birch also explained that the title will keep some of the mystery that the original game had, and will keep all of the levels unique from each other.

There’s also a huge emphasis on your score multiplier, which you increase by stringing together attacks. If you manage to fill your ‘blood bar’, at the bottom of the screen, you’ll be able to unleash a special ability which will allow you to one hit kill your enemies. However, special abilities should be used sparingly because you won’t be able to build up your score as quickly while they’re triggered.

Shadow of the Beast is set to hit the PS4 on May 17, 2016.

Check out the Trailer:

“The rebooted Shadow of the Beast, based on the 1989 Commodore Amiga original, is less than a month away from its PlayStation 4 release. However, developer Heavy Spectrum Entertainment Labs has released a five-minute, action-packed trailer showcasing the litany of abilities and abilities players can expect to see.”
