Following Square Enix’s confirmation that, yes, there is another Tomb Raider game on the way and, even better, that it’ll be here before 2018 is over, speculation has been rife about what exactly we can expect from Lara Croft’s next adventure.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will follow the story of Lara Croft following her run-in with Trinity in Rise of The Tomb Raider as there are still may question that Lara must find answers to as ‘Ana’ died in front of her while trying to tell her more about ‘Trinity’ at the end of the game.
But while details are scant until the presumed reveal tomorrow morning, inspecting the website’s source code gives away much of the big news about Shadow of the Tomb Raider— including its release date, platforms and place in Lara Croft’s rebooted storyline. Users quickly discovered the info embedded in the website and took to Twitter to share it with fans.
The source code points at a Sept. 14, 2018 launch date for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which is “the climactic finale of Lara’s origin story.” PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One versions are expected.

The March 15 date promoted by the website is likely just a name reveal, along with a teaser trailer. More information, including the various pre-order bonuses and console versions, will be announced on April 27.
Judging by the source code, it also looks like developer Crystal Dynamics is looking to add some sort of puzzle game or ARG to go along with the Shadow of the Tomb Raider announcement. There are a number of references in the code to “playing a puzzle” as well as level counters. Look for a browser-based game to launch around March 15.
Is there anything else we can learn from this website’s source code? Other than an odd dump of some lorem ipsum, it seems we’ve reached the end. This leaves specific game information, such as where Shadow of the Tomb Raider will take place, still a mystery. Looks like we’ll have to wait for either March 15 or April 27 to know more.
