Atlus has announced via Twitter that the latest installment in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei V, has sold a million units worldwide. Additionally, character designer Masayuki Doi drew an illustration of protagonist Nahobino to celebrate the announcement. Atlus previously announced in January that the game had surpassed 800,000 units sold worldwide, making it the fastest-selling game in the title so far. Additionally, Atlus announced that the game will receive a 30% discount for all its downloadable versions on the Japanese eshop, which will run from April 25, 2022, to May 11, 2022.
An overview of the game via its eshop page can be seen below:
When a grisly murder scene in modern-day Tokyo blocks our protagonist’s walk home, an unplanned detour leaves him buried and unconscious. He awakens in a new Tokyo, a wasteland ravaged by apocalypse now called Da’at… but before bloodthirsty demons can claim his life, a savior emerges, and they unite to become a mighty being neither human nor demon: a Nahobino. With newfound power, the protagonist ventures through Da’at, an enigmatic realm filled with mythical deities and demonic tyrants in constant conflict for survival. Searching for answers, the protagonist must forge his own path in a battle between light and dark to dictate the fate of the world.
Shin Megami Tensei V released on November 11, 2021, in Japan and on November 12, 2021, in North America exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
