A new version entitled Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, it has been recently announced for the upcoming Nintendo Switch. Also local two player co-op in Shovel Knight’s campaign is coming as a free update to all console and PC platforms (3DS/Vita not included). amiibo not required.
Treasure Trove isn’t considered as a sequel, it’s more a restructured release with new features. Players who already own the original game on any of the currently supported platforms will find that their copy is automatically upgraded to the new version.

“All owners of Shovel Knight on all platforms will automatically own Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove instead and will continue to get each of the planned free campaigns and features via updates.
