Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Announced for October 2016

2K and Firaxis Games have released a new announcement trailer and revealed a release date for Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. The upcoming turn-based strategy game will be coming to the PC on October 21, 2016, worldwide. The announcement trailer is very inspirational and shows us what humanity is capable of.

While veterans of the series can expect to once again guide their chosen culture through history, building globe-spanning empires from early agricultural societies, the new game also aims to evolve the series with an array of new features. Cities can be physically expanded over multiple ’tiles’ on the world map, offering players a deeper strategy in how they build their empires in relation to terrain and resources, while diplomacy with other cultures encountered evolves over time – initially you’ll face inevitable conflict, but dialogue and trading can lead to alliances that aid you in war.

Military units can now join forces, with support units (an anti-tank brigade with infantry, or a warrior with settlers are the examples 2K provides) capable of ’embedding’ with active ones, sharing one tile but doubling the effect.

2K also promised improvements to research speed, allowing you to mature your empire faster through exploration, and better tutorials for newcomers. Multiplayer is also getting an overhaul, and while the traditionally lengthy Civilization versus modes will return, they’ll be joined by co-op and competitive modes offering “a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session”.

Check out the Trailer:

“Sid Meier’s Civilization® VI is not yet rated by the ESRB, is available for pre-order now on Windows PC, and will be released worldwide on October 21, 2016 for $59.99/£49.99/€59.99. Expand your empire further with the Civilization VI Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the full base game, the 25th Anniversary Digital Soundtrack, and access to four post-launch DLC packs that will add new maps, scenarios, civilizations and leaders for a bundled discount.”
