During the recent State of Play event, Sony released a new combat focused trailer for the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake. The trailer shows several enemies as well as gameplay segments showing James Sunderland dispatching these enemies with guns and melee weapons. Following the release of the trailer, several fans took to the internet to voice their disappointment and displeasure at the game’s seemingly action focused direction that’s much different from the original.“The fact someone thought we needed a “combat reveal” for the Silent Hill 2 remake is cause for concern.” said @GmainLives“Feels like it misses what makes a proper psychological horror Silent Hill game.” Said @MauroNL“The silent hill 2 remake being this combat focused is a red flag lol” said @yoracrabHowever, it’s worth noting that Sony released a combat reveal trailer specifically highlighting the combat elements. A trailer showing several other features and horror elements have yet to be released. However, several fans have pointed out the game’s new combat elements such as the new QTEs shown in the trailer are a cause for concern. Silent Hill 2 is in development for PS5 and PC. A release date has still yet to be announced.
