According to the latest information from renowned leaker AestheticGamer, a new Silent Hill game has started its development process, and, Kojima Productions is not involved. The leaker claims that a soft reboot is being made, and a demo will be available after the game gets announced.

Via Twitter, the leaker claims that back in 2018 Konami started looking for developers for two Silent Hill projects, one is a reboot and the other an episodic Silent Hill game. Reportedly, Konami and Sony were in the talks about the possibilities of handing the development of the episodic title to Kojima Productions.
AestheticGamer says that in 2019 a Silent Hill project started in Japan, he is 100 percent confident about Sony Japan Studios are producing the reboot, the game will be PS5 exclusive and it’s being directed by Toyama, Akira Yamaoka is composing the music and Masahiro ito is doing artwork for the game.
AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem on the ResetEra forums makes clear that Konami decided not to make a remake of the original Silent Hill game from the PSX, being a reboot means that is an introduction for new players to the franchise, this could be as a prequel of the original game or to tell a new story in the haunted town.
2020 has seen plenty of information about Silent Hill, being AestheticGamer the one leading those rumors, Kojima Productions also help the speculation teasing a Silent Hill announcement that never took place. The original monster designer Masahiro Ito, has confirmed his collaboration as a “Core Member” in an unannounced project. He suggested that the project is linked to Konami or Silent Hill when he says “I’m working on a title as a core member. I hope the title won’t be cancelled… I can tell you nothing yet.”.
However, Konami has released an official statement about the rumors:
“We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear,”
In the Konami rep’s original email, he also said: “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.” So, while Konami US is denying that the rumors are true, they’re once again acknowledging that the series is still alive in some way.
Even if AestheticGamer is recognized for revealing accurate information of Resident Evil 8, the only official information from Konami debunks all the rumors of a return of the franchise, whether if is a marketing move to not ruin the announcement, or if it’s AestheticGamer looking for five minutes of fame is up to you to decide.
