Skybound Games Will Finish the Final Season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead

Skybound Games Will Finish the Final Season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead

It’s now official Skybound Games will complete the development of the final episodes of Telltale’s The Walking Dead alongside with some of the Telltale’s developers team, the announcement was made at New York’s Comic-Con by Robert Kirkman  the creator of The Walking Dead and who is also the owner of Skybound Games a division of Skybound Entertainment dedicated to publishing independently developed games.

This follows the Telltale Games closure back in September, where Telltale Telltale laid off 90% of its staff, leaving only 25 of previously 250 employees, and skeleton crew was the only team remaining in order to complete the five-part series Minecraft: Story Mode for Netflix.

Skybound Games also confirmed the news via Twitter, take a look here:

“We’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion,” Kirkman told an audience at New York Comic-Con Saturday night. “We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year.”

Skybound Games will work with members of the original Telltale team to finish the story, though nothing has yet been finalized, a spokesperson told Variety. Skybound never used in-house developers on its games before.”

Skybound Entertainment is the company behind the long-running comic, The Walking Dead, created by Robert Kirkman. Since the company’s founding in 2010, Skybound has developed properties in traditional and new media, including comics, gaming, television, film, and digital media series. The company has since launched into the virtual reality space, and in 2017, created an in-house digital studio for online content.

Back in 2016, Skybound Entertainment expanded internationally with the opening of Skybound North, led by former LucasFilm Animation executive, Catherine Winder. And just recently Skybound created Skybound Games to develop video games based of it IPs and a joint venture- Skybound Stories with Sky plc.
