Skyrim On Switch Will Never Get Mods

It appears that it is extremely unlikely that Bethesda will be implementing the Creation Club feature on the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, despite being implemented on other console versions of the game. The Creation Club feature, which was first introduced into Fallout 4 before it was featured in Skyrim, allows gamers to use mods for the game on consoles, as well as on PC. This feature is available on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, but not in the Nintendo Switch and it appears that it will never be released on the Switch.

Todd Howard, director of the game developer and publisher company Bethesda, recently said to all the owners of Syrim on the Nintendo Switch, that “Skyrim for the Switch has a big community that we haven’t supported the way we’d like.” Eurogamer asked Howard about what he meant with this statement, but the response wasn’t very reassuring.

Howard said the following:

“They asked for mods,” he replied, “they asked for Creation Club – ‘When are we getting more stuff?'”

When asked about what is being done about this issue, Howard mentioned:

“Right now we’re doing nothing. People, they’re on other things. Our Switch group did Fallout Shelter … and that’s done really well. I’m surprised at how well it’s done…”

“We would love to see it happen but it’s not something we’re actively doing.”

NintendoLife said in an article on their website:

“To put it simply, Bethesda is aware that Switch fans want to see mods in their portable version of Skyrim, but it isn’t something that the studio is focusing on. Whether this will change in the future is unknown, but it certainly sounds like Bethesda is fully committed to other projects.”
