SNK released the reboot of the coveted weapons fighting game earlier this year with Samurai Shodown. Along with an eclectic cast of iconic fighters along with three new characters joining the line-up, fans can also expect a flurry of new fighters to join in on the action as DLC fighters.
While SNK has already revealed four new paid DLC fighters landing on the game in the future, a free DLC character has been announced and will be releasing on the game very soon. Shizumaru Hisame has already been revealed as a new free fighter heading over to the game and SNK has just announced the date when fans will be able to get their hands on the new fighter.
You can check out the new trailer for Shizumaru below:
SNK announced that the new fighter will hit the game on September 16, 2019 for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. While both a switch and PC version are slated to release later this year in the west, so far we only have a Japanese release date for the Switch which is slated for December 12, 2019.
Along with the rebooted Samurai Shodown title, SNK has also planned a Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection for consoles and PC which is said to release this coming fall. The acclaimed video game studio has also recently announced a new NeoGeo Arcade Stick Pro console/fighting stick which will come with 20 different classic fighting game pre-loaded – and we’re sure there will be a heavy dose of the weapons fighting series featured.
As for the paid DLC fighters, the first of the paid fighter Rimururu has already been released last month, with the next paid DLC fighter in the package will release in October, November and December after the release of Shizumaru.
Samurai Shodown is currently available for the PS4 and Xbox One while we’re still awaiting the official release dates or the western Switch and PC versions.
