SEGA has started the new year off with a bang already with a new photo showing of Sonic celebrating the arrival of the year 2020. While it may not be the new year yet here in the States, Japan has already rung it in and looking forward to what is to come.
🎍🦔新年あけましておめでとうございます🦔🎍

The tweet shown above was posted by the Sonic Team at the beginning of the new year. In the post, they talk about “challenging various things under the title #SONIC2020.” There are a lot of things that this statement could mean, but it’s likely that fans will see something new from Sonic in the coming year. One of those things will definitely include the Sonic movie that is releasing on Valentine’s Day, but it will be interesting to see what kind of Sonic game will be coming out as well.
令和二年!あけましておめでとうございます!!

This next tweet got posted by SEGA’s official twitter account and was also posted at midnight their time. It has a picture of the beloved hedgehog and an alien flying in a UFO. In the post SEGA mentions that it is the company’s 60th anniversary. This once again leads fans to believe that the company is cooking up some good stuff for 2020.
Even though SEGA has been struggling with the Sonic franchise for some time, they have done some good with it as well, specifically with Sonic Mania, so fans are hoping they will strike gold again this year with something new. Here’s to the new year and to hoping that whatever Sonic game that releases this year won’t be a massive disappointment.
