Sega has delayed Sonic Mania to summer 2017, the company has just announced at the Sonic the Hedgehog SXSW 2017 panel. It will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
According to Sega, development needs a little more time to meet the quality standards it would like to achieve.

“Sega also premiered a new Classic Zone for the game, the “Flying Battery Zone” from Sonic & Knuckles, as well as the game’s key art, and tossed around the idea of a Sonic the Hedgehog vinyl.
Sonic Mania is a project from Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest Games, and Headcannon developed in collaboration with Sega and Sonic team, with a vision to bring Sonic back to his roots with 2D gameplay and pixellated graphics bringing fans back into the 2D world of platform games with its core “classic” gameplay by remaining iconic Zones and Acts from Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, and adding in completely new Zones with all-new Acts and boss fights into the mix.
