Sony Announced Classic Titles Coming to PS4 on HD

Today at PlayStation Experience, Sony revealed a few classic PlayStation titles that will come to PS4 in 2017. Wipeout along with Parapp The Rapper, Patapon and Loco roco are getting HD upgrades that bundle together classic games from each series. Meanwhile, we also get our first look at the Crash Brandicoot’s Trilogy Remake that’s built from the ground up.

The Wipeout Omega Collection will include Wipeout HD, Wipeout Fury, and Wipeout 2028. It’s set to launch next Summer.

“PaRappa the Rapper celebrates its 20th anniversary on December 6th, and to celebrate a special demo was released on PlayStation Store today. The PaRappa, Loco Roco and Patapon are being remastered for PS4 and will feature native 4K support on PS4 Pro, “and other improvements as well,” Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida said on stage.

PaRappa includes two new features courtesy of the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller:

Feel the Beat “provides a steady metronome for each song to help the player ‘feel’ when they need PaRappa to rap in response to each character.”
See the Beat is when the “player icon enlarges when a player presses any button during a song to help give visual feedback while they’re playing.”
This announcement — or at least part of it — was expected, following a listing for PaRappa the Rapper which appeared yesterday on the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee website. PaRappa is being joined by PlayStation Portable titles LocoRoco and Patapon, released in 2006 and 2007 respectively.”
