Sony Plans to Make the PlayStation 6 “The Most Powerful Console of its Generation”

According to a new video by RedGamingTech, the PlayStation 5 Pro is likely to launch soon, as third-party studios have recently received dev kits. While this isn’t an official confirmation of an advanced console releasing soon, it seems the console is rumored to launch later this year. Additionally, the video claims that the PlayStation 6 has been in production for one year but the specs haven’t been finalized yet. What’s more, the CPU will likely be powered by AMD technology as Sony is said to only be considering AMD. The company also aims to make it “the most powerful console of its generation” and wants to make sure an appropriate amount of time is being put into it. Lastly, the console is rumored to launch sometime in 2028.

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb claimed on a past podcast episode on his YouTube channel, that Sony is currently working on a PlayStation 5 console upgrade that will “probably” come out in September 2024. Grubb also stated that the the console will feature “Sony’s own proprietary DLSS-like solution, where they use their own machine learning to improve images so they can run things at a really high resolution and really high frame rate.” Earlier in July, legal documents from the Microsoft FTC court case revealed that Sony will release a PlayStation 5 Slim and a PlayStation 5 Pro console “in the near future.”
