Sony and Xbox are launching two versions of their next generation consoles, this is a rumor that have been around since September 2019. This time Neogaf user VFXVeteran claims to have heard that Sony and Xbox have two consoles planned for holidays.

“I heard that there are 2 consoles per company”
It’s expected that a more expensive and capable option will be offered by both companies at launch, the announced Xbox Series X is the most powerful Xbox to be available. If rumors are true, Sony has a console almost ready to compete with Xbox’s 12 TFLOPS. The base version of the PlayStation 5 would boast around 9.2 TFLOPS. This could explain the reason of incongruousness in the recent leaks, as there are two main rumors, the one who claims the console 9 TFLOPS cheaper than XSX and the other who claims that the Japanese console will be more powerful than the 12 TFLOPS of SXS.
I heard that there are 2 consoles per company. The mid-gen refreshes are going to be introduced at release so that these consoles can run the entire 7yr cycle.
I also heard that the top of the line models will be expensive. No pricing but I would guess around $600.
Also no dates on when the top models will come out for PS5.
My guess is that they are going to release both models at the same time.
This is ALL I know and won’t be fishing for anymore info.
VFXVeteran is listed as a “Industry Professional” on the website, so this rumor might have some credibility. But, considering that he/she suggest that the top of the line models would be around $600, how less expensive can be the base models of PS5 and XSX, will any company reduce cost by not including an SSD? If so, are they targeting a $400 or $500. What would be your pick? Let me know in the comment section below.
