Sony will sell a “limited quantity” of PS5 via Pre-order

Sony has warned that only a “limited quantity” of PS5 consoles will be available via pre-order.  As reported by Business Insider, Sony has established “a lottery system” to select the right user for the PS5.

Interested buyers can get a chance to pre-order the PS5 by signing up with a PlayStation Network account. Click here for more information.

“We will be inviting some of our existing consumers to be one of the first to preorder one from PlayStation,” Sony will determine using “previous interests and PlayStation activities” who will be able to preorder the PS5. Sony confirms that “there will be a limited quantity of PS5 consoles available for preorder,”

“Pre-order reservations will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis, so once you get an invite via email, we encourage you to follow instructions and act fast.”

Back in July, Sony reportedly asked their manufacturing plants and associates to “radically” increase the production of the next-gen console. Sony initially planned to produce 5-6 million units by the end of March 2021. Insiders told Bloomberg that Sony expects 5 million units being manufactured by the end of September, other 5 million between October and December.

A large portion of the latter tranche would turn into stock for 2021 due to the logistical delay. Sony could try to use air cargo for faster delivery, as it did in 2013 around the launch of the PlayStation 4, though airlines are running vastly reduced schedules due to Covid-19 and Sony’s ability to reserve flights would be limited.

The DualSense controller is also reportedly increasing production, more than 10 million controllers are expected to be available by the end of March 2021.Announced at ‘The Future of Gaming” PS5 will launch with several gadgets that will make the experience of the next-gen console even better, a DualSense Charging Station has been announced, the device will allow users to charge up to two controllers at ease. Sony did also showcased the HD Camera and a new Pulse 3D Wireless Headset.
