SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated Announced

Spongebob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a classic 2003 SpongeBob game that released for the PlayStation 2, Gamecube, Original Xbox, Game Boy Advance, and PC. Since then we haven’t had a real full SpongeBob Adventure game in quite a while, since you can’t really top this original classic.

Well it looks like we’ll get a complete remake of the game as THQ Nordic announced on their twitter that SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated will be coming out sometime in the future. They even gave us a trailer paying homage to the game’s original box art where SpongeBob is wearing a soldier helmet, then he continues to do his victory screech before the fight even begins.

It would appear that Purple Lamp studios are developing the game and it will be coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, though it’s not going to be shown during E3 2019.

The description for the video includes some new information regarding the game stating, “’The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs… Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!”

The game seems to be a full remake with possibly new and improved graphics. Hopefully some more news regarding the game will be available soon. This also happens to be one of the first three games THQ Nordic has teased as part of their three days of new announcements. So over the next two days on June 6 and June 7. So whatever THQ Nordic is planning to release, they probably have a good plan to gain everyone’s attention.
