Bungie jumps on the opportunity to participate in the Halloween festivities as they bring back Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. With the update comes a new dungeon, a new Crucible mode, and the opportunity to hunt for a new exotic weapon (the Xenophage).
Festival of the Lost is the Halloween-themed event that offers Guardians new customization options for their gear. Players can also acquire some in-game candy and participate in the celebrations while admiring the new decorations for the Tower and the Haunted Forest. Finally, gamers can have their character(s) “don irreverent masks and celebrate the memories of those that are lost.”
A new dungeon is presented with the update as well. The dungeon can be engaged with either a fireteam or solo. Either way, players can talk to Eris on the Tower to access the new content.
Momentum Control, Destiny 2’s new Crucible mode, gives Guardians the opportunity to focus on their gunplay as opposed to their Supers (while Mayhem’s focus is inverted). For this mode, Bungie has increased the power and lethality of weapons, giving players the incentive to go on the offensive to “earn charged melees, grenades, and Supers.”
Lastly, a new exotic weapon makes its debut with the Festival of the Lost update. The Xenophage is an exotic machine gun, but limited information about the weapon’s abilities has been released. Players need to complete a quest in order to acquire the weapon, the specifics of which have not been detailed.
Along with the update’s announcement, Bungie released a trailer for the Destiny 2 event, which can be viewed here.
