Spyro the Dragon Trilogy remaster possibly teased

Today, a mysterious package was delivered to IGN, possibly teasing the remastered version of Spyro the Dragon Trilogy, that contains a purple egg and a purple card along with it, that has the text, “Something’s about to hatch,” signed by “Falcon McBob.” This name is tied to the @SpyroTheDragon Twitter account created in February, but this account is currently unverified and its tweets are protected.

A rumor appeared on the Internet that revealed that a remastered version of the Spyro the Dragon Trilogy that includes the first 3 games of the series, is in the works for Playstation 4 and according to the rumor is due to release in Q3 2018. An announcement of the game was supposedly to be released on March, but we already passed that month a while ago.

Here’s a picture of the package that was delivered to IGN:

IGN said the following about the package on their website:

“Of course, Spyro is also purple and scaly. But through our expert analysis we have concluded he is not an egg but a dragon…that likely hatched from an egg. And this specific egg isn’t exactly an iconic object from the games, so it’s possible this could be one elaborate April Fools prank sent a day late.”

Gearnuke said the following about the rumor on their website:

“This most recent rumor is more of a hint than something concrete and it does add more evidence to a remake being in development for Spyro The Dragon. It was discovered by Twitter user JumpButton who shared that Activision has started to operate on an official Twitter account for Spyro the Dragon just recently. The email that is used for the Twitter account is owned by Activision and the codename for the account point towards a voice acting project that was codenamed Falcon.

Even though there is enough evidence here, treat this news with a grain of salt as a rumor because nothing has been officially confirmed for it so far. Spyro The Dragon is one of the most popular platformer on the PS1 along with the Crash Bandicoot series, so it won’t be surprising to see it get a remake this year after the blockbuster success of the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy last year.”
