Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – No Microtransactions

The Star Wars franchise has had a rough go of it this generation and with that EA also has been having a rough go of this generation too. There’s the Star Wars: Battlefront debacle, we can all agree that while the first game was solid, the second installment of the series for this generation was a complete and utter dumpster fire. Enter Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a glimmer of hope in the otherwise scarred Star Wars gaming universe, the chosen one if you will. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a single-player experience, that in some ways could be EA’s last chance to rebound and get a win for the Star Wars series.

Part of what can push consumers away is a game’s microtransaction system. EA is known for stuffing its games with microtransactions, especially after the amount made from their sports titles FIFA 20 & Madden 20. After getting brutalized by the media it sounds like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will have no microtransactions the game. At all. Here’s a quote from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order producer Kasumi Shishido in an interview with PC Gamer:

I can assure you that there will be no microtransactions in our game. Much more important is exploring and returning to searched areas. We have distributed boxes within the game world and they are not randomly distributed. They are for good reasons at their localities and the parts in the boxes are tied to the plot. So the players should be motivated to a return trip. The lightsaber customization is really fun. We were actually inspired by the new lightsaber workshop at Disneyland.

Will this have an impact on whether or not you pick up the game? What do you think of the gameplay you’ve seen so far? Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order releases soon November 15th to be exact.
