EA appears to to have a new Star Wars game being in advanced development according to a recent leak on the European PlayStation Store. Spotted by PSN Releases, a Twitter account dedicated to inform on the latest releases, or updates on the PSN. Project Maverick is the name of the game in development, the only information that reached the PSN was the promotional art.
In late January, it was reported that EA had approved a new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic project. “Re-imaging” would be EA’s approach for the new game. The new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game would “integrate elements from the first two games in order to bring certain things into the current Star Wars canon.” It’s possibly that Project Maverick is actually the new KOTOR game.
This will surely keep to diminish the disappointment that fans has with EA over the managment of the Star Wars franchise, the publisher has cancelled three times an on-going project to make a new, open-world Star Wars game. something that has made hardcore fans express their anger with the sentiment being shared to even experienced people in the industry.
EA’s management of the Star Wars franchise is something that’s interesting to say the least, but the publisher has confirmed Variety their commitment towards the Star Wars franchise:
“There’s been speculation overnight about one of our ‘Star Wars’ projects,” EA said. “As a natural part of the creative process, the great work by our team in Vancouver continues and will evolve into future ‘Star Wars’ content and games. We’re fully committed to making more ‘Star Wars’ games, we’re very excited about ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ from Respawn, and we’ll share more about our new projects when the time is right.”
