StartCraft Could Return But Not Necessarily as An RTS

In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra teased plans for the future of the StarCraft series. Ybarra teased that the series isn’t necessarily dead and that the publisher is looking for the right team for the job, which also means that the next title may not necessarily be an RTS game. “It’s not me saying, ‘Go make a StarCraft game,” said Ybarra, “I need to have someone who has the vision and passion that comes with the idea, and I’ll bet on that team.” Additionally, during the recent opening ceremony for BlizzCon, Phil Spencer went on stage to comment on the series stating that “StarCraft spawned the foundation of what esports would eventually become, and with StarCraft 2, it was a major catalyst for the evolution of games as live entertainment.”

Return to the Koprulu Sector

Discover the story that started it all as three races (the mechanized terrans, psi-powered protoss, and insectoid zerg) encounter each other for the first time. Engage in a legendary conflict that spans worlds over the course of more than 50 campaign missions.

Real-time strategy restored
