Steam has announced the rebrand of their Steam Game Festival, the new event will be a multi-day celebration of upcoming PC games called Steam Next Fest.
During Steam Next Fest, fans will be able to “explore and play hundreds of game demos, watch developer livestreams, and chat with the development teams about their upcoming games.
Check the announcement trailer down below:
Steam Next Fest will follow the same direction of recent Steam events where the digital distribution media shares the spotlight on games to be released for PC within a year of its announcement, free trials and time-limited demos are expected. Players often have a 48-hour window to play the game and make a purchase decision.
Steam Next Fest separates from the ESA’s E3 2021 perhaps for the reasons that Nintendo of America’s former president, Reggie Fils-Aime pointed, the event doesn’t sound compelling to developers.
Now, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Square Enix, Electronic Arts will be hosting their own digital events in which they won’t have to share the spotlight with other publishers. Today’s announcement of Steam Next Fest adds another nail to the coffin of the E3.
Steam Next Fest will be hosted in June. The next major digital event will be hosted by Xbox this Friday, March 26. The event will be aired on March 26 at 9:00 am PDT, 12:00 pm EDT, 4:00 pm GMT.
