Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Announced

Capcom has announced the newest addition to the Street Fighter franchise. Street Fighter V: Champion Edition will be released on February 14, 2020 for PC and PlayStation 4.

Also (re)joining the franchise with the Champion Edition will be Gill, who will be available to current Street Fighter V players starting in December 2019.

Moreover, Capcom released a gameplay trailer for Gill alongside his announcement.

The Street Fighter V: Champion Edition “includes all content (excluding Fighting Chance costumes, brand collaboration costumes and Capcom Pro Tour DLC) from both the original release and Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Champion Edition adds each character, stage and other content that released after Arcade Edition and will include all launch content coming to this new version. In total, this robust edition of Street Fighter V features 40 characters, 34 stages and over 200 costumes. Fighters can battle their way through a variety of exciting single-player and multi-player modes designed for players of all skill levels, including Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Team Battle, Ranked Match, Casual Match and more.”

Physical and digital copies of the Champion Edition will be available on PlayStation 4 and digitally on Steam for $29.99. Starting November 18, 2019, current owners of any Street Fighter V version can purchase an Upgrade Kit for $24.99, which “offers instant access to all unowned Champion Edition content as it becomes available leading up to the 14th February release.”

If players do not wish to purchase additional fighters using real money, they can earn the fighters in-game by accomplishing various in-game challenges and receiving in-game currency (Fight Money).

The original version of Street Fighter V released on February 16, 2016 for PC and PlayStation 4. The Arcade Edition released almost two years later on January 16, 2018.
