“We have partnered with Panic Button, experts in console development, to help us bring Subnautica to the PS4. Panic Button are also helping to accelerate development on Subnautica Xbox.
Millions of people have enjoyed Subnautica on Steam, and in the as-yet-unfinished Xbox Preview. We hope that many more will now be able to experience the wonder, peril, and adventure that lies beneath the waves on Planet 4546B.

Subnautica has been in development on Xbox One for quite a while now. We’re painfully aware of how long you’ve been waiting for us to finish the game. We’ve struggled to deliver updates quickly.
Moving a game from PC to Xbox is a difficult process. Subnautica is a big, complex piece of software. Lots of nuanced interactions with the host hardware need to be unpicked and rebuilt. Performance is a huge challenge, as we are bound by the Xbox’s fixed computing resources.
We were not moving fast enough, so we decided to shake things up and bring in outside help. We’ve partnered with Panic Button Games to finish Subnautica on Xbox One. Panic Button know consoles inside out. They have lots of experience bringing big games to consoles, and they are also helping us bring Subnautica to PS4.
Panic Button have jumped straight in, and they are already working hard to bring Subnautica on Xbox up to date as quickly as possible. As usual, we won’t promise any dates, because we will inevitably be wrong!
Regardless of dates, we want you to know how much we appreciate you playing Subnautica on the Xbox Preview. We are sorry it has taken so long to deliver updates. And we are super excited to get the game finished for you as soon as possible!”
