Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Delayed to 2023

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has officially been delayed until Spring 2023. This official announcement confirms earlier unconfirmed reports of the game’s delay.

Creative Director Sefton Hill tweeted the announcement today and also narrowed the time window down to spring of next year:

“We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to Spring 2023. I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience.”

This confirms a report in Bloomberg by Jason Schreier in February earlier this year that the game would be delayed, though no reason was given for the delay at the time. This new title in the DC Universe is the next game from developer Rocksteady, whose last major game release was seven years ago with the launch of Batman: Arkham Knight. This marks a major slowdown in development of games from Rocksteady, considering they took only eight years to bring us the entire Batman Arkham series (Rocksteady started working on Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2007).

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally announced by Rocksteady in 2020 with a cinematic trailer, with an in-game trailer premiering at last year’s DC FanDome event. The game was originally set to launch sometime in 2022. The new title is an open world co-op title that will allow up to four players to take  control of different members of the Suicide Squad. Their mission will be to take out a brainwashed  version of the Justice League including Superman, The Flash, and more. So far, the Suicide Squad consists of Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang, each of which can be customized with unique weapons and abilities.
