Super Mario Remasters Coming to Nintendo Switch – Rumor

According to VideoGameChronicle, Nintendo had a big announcement planned for E3 2020, but since it was cancelled, they are planning to host a special event in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario series. VGC claims that multiple sources have told the outlet that Nintendo will unveil that most of the  Mario‘s 35 year catalogue will be remastered for Nintendo Switch.

At this moment, there is a lot of speculation from the different news outlets, is uncertain which of the Super Mario games are coming back, surely the most cherished ones are Super Mario, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, Mario 64 and Mario Odyssey. There are some portable games that also deserve a remaster. Nintendo has been reached by VGC for more information, the answer that they were given is that Nintendo  “does not comment on rumor and speculation.”

However, Eurogamer and Gematsu have been confirmed by sources, some of the games to arrive in a remaster fashion.

Eurogamer sources have indicated that Mario Galaxy is indeed one of the games being readied for a remaster, alongside a couple of other 3D Mario favourites. [UPDATE: Gematsu has now confirmed these as Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine, which Eurogamer can corroborate.]

Shuntaro Furukawa recently explained 

that Nintendo is expanding their audience, using their IP in a different medias, surely,  the celebration of the anniversary of Mario represents a big opportunity for Nintendo to start new projects, sources claims that Nintendo will reveal details of the animated Super Mario Movie and “Super Nintendo World” the theme park that is the result of the company’s partnership with Universal. There is also an animated Super Mario Movie

“We want to expand our video game characters to a variety of settings – not just in games, all while keeping their value,” Miyamoto said at Nintendo’s Management Policy Briefing. “In other words, we’ll be collaborating with various other companies. If we’re able to accomplish that, we can create more opportunities for people to make contact with our characters on a much larger scale than usual.”
