Rumor: Microsoft’s Second Next-Gen Console May Be Streaming Only
After the reveal of Microsoft’s next-gen console, Project Scarlett, during E3 2019, many fans were curious as to if the veteran gaming company was still planning a secondary next-gen console along with what was revealed during the E3 panel. While we’ve yet to receive any additional confirmation regarding the topic, known Xbox insider Brad Sams seems to think that Microsoft is currently working on a secondary next-gen console focusing on streaming.
This would make sense considering Microsoft’s dedication to their xCloud streaming service and could potentially appeal to a different audience rather than the traditional powerhouse style of a secondary system. Take all of this with a grain of salt as we’ve yet to hear anything regarding Microsoft’s plans on two next-gen systems, but a lot could theoretically change by the time we see Project Scarlett release in the holiday of 2020.
Rumor: The Witcher 3 Releasing on September 24, 2019
With the recent reveal that CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed Witcher 3 title would be making its way over to the Switch console, fans are wondering when exactly they can take this gem on the go. The recent rumor shows off a Czech retailer which seemingly leaks the release date of the game which appears to be September 24, 2019. While this is merely a rumor for now, a Reddit user has also claimed that a pre-order of the game at GameStop revealed the same release date for the game. Take all of this with a grain of salt as we’ve yet to hear any official confirmation as to when the release date actually is.
Nintendo Announces New Switch Lite
Nintendo finally confirmed the ongoing rumors regarding whether or not we’d see a smaller version of the Switch console. Earlier this week the company announced a new member of the Switch family, the Switch Lite. Some features of the new dedicated handheld console includes permanently attached Joy-Con controllers, a slightly smaller screen, the absence of IR motion sensors and HD rumble support, a longer lasting battery life and an actual d-pad replacing the face buttons on the left side of the gamepad.
Perhaps the biggest subtraction from the original design is the the Lite model will not be able to connect to a television set. And while Joy-cons won’t be featured when playing on the Lite console, the Switch Lite will still support the nun-chuck style controllers in order to play titles like Super Mario Party and 1-2 Switch.
Nintendo plans on releasing the new Switch Lite on September 20, 2019 in three different colors – yellow, teal and grey – along with an exclusive Pokemon Sword and Shield edition.
Amazon Game Studios Developing New Lord of the Rings MMO
After last year’s announcement from Athlon Games confirming the development of a new Lord of the Rings MMO title, Amazon’s game development division – Amazon Game Studios – has confirmed that they partnering with Athlon Games with the development of the new title. There’s no current release window for the presumed free-to-play MMO title, but is the second massive online game being developed by the studio – the other being the title New World. Stay tuned for more details on the new Lord of the Rings MMO as they’re announced.
A new leak has emerged for the incredibly anticipated, yet unconfirmed Bully 2. The leak comes from well-known and well-established Reddit user Fika122 after contacting an ex-Rockstar New England employee who shot subtle hints that they were at one point indeed working on a sequel to Bully. The leak hints that a Bully sequel was in the works around the same time as Red Dead Redemption back in 2009 and featured new pranks, a climbing system and a trip-wire trap based off of the lasso physics from the original Red Dead Redemption.
The anonymous former Rockstar employee also iterates that the in-development game back then was eventually canceled right before they were unexpectedly laid-off. While these are just rumors, they are coming from relatively reliable sources with thorough research on the topic at hand. And while these latest rumors suggest that Bully 2 was canned nearly a decade ago, the case might be that Rockstar simply put the game on the back burner in place of other titles. Stay tuned for more possible details on a Bully sequel as other rumors claim Rockstar will announce Bully 2 before the year is up.
