Xbox Games Showcase has just finished, the event was packed with ten world premiere trailers and twenty-two console launch exclusives. The team at Xbox also shared the new vision of the company for the next generation, the Xbox Series X starts with players at the center, this means offering players fun and mind-blowing experiences on any device.
In today’s Xbox Games Showcase, fans saw the debut of Halo Infinite, a game that will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Xbox also announced the new Fable with a teaser trailer, the new game will set players on the land of fantastical creatures and wondrous places. The game is being developed by Playground Games for Xbox Series X, and Windows 10. Fable will be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the service grants unlimited access to over 100 games on Xbox One and PC, including all the new Xbox Game Studios, games the day they launch.
Xbox also unveiled the reimagination of the original Forza Motorsports, the new racing game “is about speed and immersion, connecting players to the Forza universe”. The new game is not Forza Motorsports 8 apparently, which is a different vision from Turn 10 Studios. It’s confirmed that the new Forza Motorsports will run at 4K, 60 FPS with scenes connected and dynamic.
Forza Motorsports will also feature ray tracing, this will allow developers to create a dynamic world “where everything is connected, from surfaces of cars reflecting off each other, brilliant red paint reflected off of detailed track surfaces and light and shadow interplay.”
Xbox also took the chance to showcase the support from third-party developers, world premiere trailers of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis were unveiled. Perhaps the biggest announcement was the “incredible partnership” between Xbox and Bungie. Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be available at launch with access to previous expansions, at no additional cost. Bungie is also developing Destiny 2 optimized for Xbox Series X with 4K resolution running at 60 fps.
As Dusk Falls is a new interactive drama from a new studio called INTERIOR/NIGHT, the team is established by a mix of award-winning industry veterans and emerging new talent. INTERIOR/NIGHT is led by Caroline Marchal, former lead game designer at Quantic Dream, the studio is focused on creating ambitious and innovative interactive narratives.
As Dusk Falls is a multi-generational story set in the American Southwest about resilience, sacrifice, and how the mistakes of the older generation transmit to the younger. What begins as a focused tale of two families trapped in a hostage situation, becomes a sprawling epic about how people grow and change over the decades.
Obsidian Entertainment showcased three trailers, The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgonm, coming to PC, and Xbox One on September 9th, 2020, is the first narrative expansion to award-winning sci-fi RPG. Grounded, the game which will set players on the role of kids of the size of ants also received a new trailer. The biggest announcement from Obsidian was Avowed, the next epic, first-person RPG set in the fantasy world of Eora.
