The Elder Scrolls VI Could Be An Xbox Exclusive Affirms Phil Spencer

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer affirmed that to make profitable the $7.5 billion investment of ZeniMax Media, the company might decide to skip a PlayStation launch for games such as The Elder Scrolls VI.

In an interview with Kotaku, Spencer affirmed that the heavy investment was not to take IPs away from PlayStation but to add more games to the ever-growing Xbox Game Pass library.

“Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: ‘How do we keep other players from playing these games?’ We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games.

But I’ll also say in the model—I’m just answering directly the question that you had—when I think about where people are going to be playing and the number of devices that we had, and we have xCloud and PC and Game Pass and our console base, I don’t have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us.”

Spencer also defended the design of the upcoming Xbox Series S, the console received some critics and worries from some developers, but the executive is confident that Series S will sell more than Xbox Series X and PS5.

‘Absolutely, it is work. There’s no doubt about that’, he says. ‘The fact that you have two performance specs now, I’m not going to stand here or try to PR somebody and say two different specs is the same as having one spec. It’s not. We’re doing this because we want to expand the market.’

I think, over the generation, our expectation would be that price really matters and that you would see the Series S sell more”.

The Elder Scrolls VI

is “years away” as affirmed by Bethesda’s Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, Pete Hines. Interestingly, a rumor from April 2020 may have revealed some of the key aspects for the next installment in the acclaimed franchise.

User Throwaway13579 affirmed that the game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Redfall, and would take place in the High Rock and Hammerfell six years after the events of Skyrim. He claims that Bethesda is planning to take full advantage of the upcoming generation of consoles to create “huge, epic battle scenes with dozens if not hundreds of characters battling on-screen in real-time”.
