The Guillemot family and Tencent Are Considering Making Ubisoft Go Private

According to a recent Bloomberg report, the Ubisoft-founding Guillemot family has been in talks with Tencent for a collaborative buyout of the company in order to make it private. This is in hopes that the move increases the company’s value following the heavy decline of its market value this year. This is also one of the many options the company is looking at. The Guillemot family has a 14 percent sake at the company while Tencent has a 9.99 percent stake. However, these are just early talks and the change may not happen. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws struggled to meet sales expectations despite the positive critical reviews the game received. According to a past report, the company’s stocks dropped significantly as a result of this. The game also only sold a million copies in the first month of its release.
