Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the new PlayStation Plus three-tiered service will launch on May 23 in Asia, excluding Japan, June 1 in Japan, and June 13 in the Americas. Sony previously announced it will relaunch the service as a three-tiered service in “Essential,” “Extra,” and “Premium” tiers. In addition, the service will reportedly combine the existing PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now services. As a result, PlayStation Now will no longer be offered as a standalone service, and current subscribers will migrate to PlayStation Plus Premium with no price increase at launch.Sony also announced that the service will launch with more content, such as classic games from the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PSP generations, and will launch with titles such as Death Stranding, God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal.CEO Jim Ryan wrote about the rollout in a blog post, saying:
“We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games, and greater value for our members for quite some time now—and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout. We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch.”
