The Next Tomb Raider Game Will Reportedly be Open World and Set in India

According to a recent Twitter thread by prominent leaker @thevscooper the next Tomb Raider game will be set in India and will be a fully open world game. According to the leaker the game’s story begins with a natural disaster hitting India, revealing “ancient emperor Ashoka’s ruins and artifacts Lara will also face again.” Lara will race against a Society of Raiders and other rivals who will also be pursuing these relics. This society is allegedly unaffiliated by Lara and may have some “opposite agendas.” This dynamic seemingly relates to a new recruitment mechanic where allies can aid players in missions. In terms of gameplay, the thread claims that it features “vast sceneries, free use of the motorcycle, parachute, and common Lara’s traversal methods to unrestrictedly navigate across a big map and its challenges.” There will also be an emphasis on non-lethal combat options. It’s worth noting that these claims have yet to be confirmed by Crystal Dynamics. However, back in April 2022, the developer announced that it is developing a new Tomb Raider title on Unreal Engine 5.

Details for the latest mainline Tomb Raider game:

In Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition experience the final chapter of Lara’s origin as she is forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
