The Outer Worlds Will Have Two Main Paths, Despite Having Multiple Endings

Microsoft acquired studios are working on their upcoming projects and Obsidian Entertainment is going to be the first of the them to launch its first game under the wing of Redmondians this year. The Outer Worlds will be coming in October and according to latest news on the game, it will feature two different paths through the story with multiple endings.

The Outer Worlds is a single-player narrative-driven game with lots of choices in between that will definitely affect your experience throughout the whole game, but according to Leonard Boyarski, co-director of the game, there will be two main paths in The Outer Worlds that will have be chosen by the player. While it’s going to feature quite a few of endings, these two main paths will shape-up the main structure for your journey in the game.

The two paths will be separating with your decision on joining Phineas or The Board. Choosing each one of them will guide you through a distinct path that despite having some similarities, will be totally different at the end.

During an interview with VGC, Boyarski did reveal that at the end of the game there will be some slides to show you how your choices have changed your path in The Outer Worlds, including the small decisions that you might ignore their effect on the story. Boyarski said:

At the end of the game there are slides to show how you affected different things. There are two basic paths at the end: whether you sided with Phineas or The Board. That’s kind of the first beat of the end: how that played out and what that choice was.

After that you get a whole series of slides that talk about the results of your actions and the consequences of the choices you made throughout the whole game. They talk about the different people that you encountered, the different areas that you entered, how you solved certain quests and what that means for the future of the colony.

The Outer Worlds will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 25.
