PlayStation Will Not Host a Conference for E3 2019
Last week was a fantastic week for the Xbox fans with the XO 2018 event and new exciting Xbox announcements such as the reveal of Crackdown 3 multiplayer and most importantly the acquistion of 2 new studios – Obsidian and inXile for Microsoft. However, as you all know now Sony dropped a big bomb a few days ago declaring that they will be absent for next year’s E3 and that they will not even be holding a booth or have any kind of presence at E3 whatsoever. This is some insane and shocking news and possibly even a wake up call to the video game industry as a whole. Sony who had so much success this generation with the release of PS4 and their incredible titles such as God of War, Bloodborne and Spiderman are going to be skipping the super bowl of video games after doing it for 24 consecutive years. Right now, the word on the street is that Sony will be officially revealing PlayStation 5 at their own special-made event sometime in the middle of 2019 with a much bigger reveal at PSX 2019 later in the year and with a March 2020 release date.
So the question is, what’s truly going on behind the scenes? The answer is simple, they do not need to do any kind of talking or showing because they have this generation in the bag and they’re confident enough that they can go do their own and still hype people up with the announcement of PS5 and go full force next-gen using their own events such as PSX. I could be talking here for hours about PS5 and what are my impressions are and thoughts on the whole situation, but honestly that’s a topic for another day that I will gladly discuss with all of sometime after the Thanksgiving week. For now, check out our Primal Podcast episode #15 where you can discuss our initial thoughts of the situation and what we can expect. To be quite frank though, we’re still trying to understand what is going on and digest all of this information that just randomly came out of nowhere.
Microsoft is Releasing a Disc-less Xbox sometime in 2019
Microsoft is continuing the trend of being super pro-consume by giving customers another option to play their favorite games without having to shell out $200 or more on a console system. Apperently, a disc-less Xbox is in the making and it’s whole purpose is to let people play and enjoy games without having to worry about any kind of physical media and most importantly save a ton of money. This is a fantastic package, especially if you’re a subscriber of the Game Pass and it makes perfect sense to create and release a product that gives you such an option. Props to Microsoft for giving the consumers more choices of how they want to spend their money and experience their favorite games. However, does this mean that the actual next Xbox will also be disc-less and physical media is on the verge of going away foverer? I still think it’s pretty early for that, but it’s definately heading towards that direction one way or another.
EA Announces and Reveals Details for Command & Conquer Remastered
While a Diablo 2 Remake did not happen at Blizzcon a Warcraft 3 and Command and Conquer series definitely did. Sometimes, its funny how things work out. EA actually made the announcement of the remake super early because according to them the development hasn’t even started so it’s something you will not see for a while. However, they did confirm which games are actually being remastered and who they’re going to be partnering with to make this happen. EA will partner with Petroglyph Games to develop the Command & Conquer remastered collection and the games that will be included are Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, we are also getting the classic expansion packs Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath.
Not only are we getting these awesome games remastered EA has also stated that the original composer by the name Frank Klepacki is returning and will be doing the composition and as well take the role of an audio director. Command & Conquer fans I think its safe to that it’s time to buckle up and get excited, because dreams are about to become a reality. Oh and yes, there are no microtransactions in this remaster. This was also confirmed by EA, so you can lay your microtansaction worries to rest.
