The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Surpasses One Million Players in First 24 Hours

Publisher Gun Interactive and developer Sumo Nottingham have announced that the recently released asymmetrical horror game The Texas Chain Saw Massacre surpassed over one million players in its first 24 hours of release. It’s worth noting that the game is also available on Xbox Game Pass, which likely contributed a significant portion of its current player base. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is also available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. In the game, players either play as a victim, who “must use your wits and stealth to stay out of the Family’s reach and find the tools you need to lead to your eventual freedom,” or a Slaughter Family member who “must seek out, track down, and stop their guests from escaping.”

The game’s details via the publisher:

Take on the role of one of the notorious Slaughter family, or their victims, in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a third-person asymmetrical horror experience based on the groundbreaking and iconic 1974 horror film.

As a victim you must use your wits and stealth to stay out of the Family’s reach and find the tools you need to lead to your eventual freedom. Slaughter Family players must seek out, track down, and stop their guests from escaping. Players of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre can finally find out if they have what it takes to survive.

Experience the mad and macabre for yourself in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Key Features

Welcome to the Family – Gun set out to once again put players in control of some of the most notorious names in horror. This time around, we brought the whole family.

The Art of Authenticity – Authenticity is a vital part of what we do here at Gun. But that authenticity runs deeper than just Hero Art. For The Texas Chain Saw Massacre we didn’t just recreate locations and characters, we recreated a whole time and place in Texas.

Conceptual Sound – Crafting an updated and inspired game score based off the iconic sound design of the 1974 original film would be no simple task. Have a quick read on how Gun approached this and the haunted noise box that became a major part of the score.
